Staying Healthy During the Holidays

Hello hello everyone!
How in the world did it become November?! Time really flies.

Now, I know this isn't the post you've all been waiting for...the wedding and honeymoon recap, BUT I'm still sorting through all my pictures and will have that up (hopefully) this week or so.

Instead I wanted to talk about keeping healthy during the holidays.
Thanksgiving is coming up and it's best to go in with a game plan in place!

Did you know that the average American can eat anwhere from 2500-4000 calories on Thanksgiving day?!
But fear not! I have some tips to help you prevent the scale from creeping up.

Fill your plate with vegetables first. You don’t have to stuff your plate full of food, be mindful of how much is actually going on your plate.
Be mindful of sneaky calories. Appetizers and wine have calories too, so don't forget to factor those into your calories as well
Bring your own dish. You control what goes in it, don't be afraid to offer to bring something!
Eat slowly. Talk around the table and LISTEN to your body; if it says it’s full, stop eating, even if there is food on your plate still.
Take a walk after dinner. Recruit family to take a walk around the block after dinner; it’ll help burn some of the calories.
Plan to workout the next day. Just because it’s a holiday doesn’t mean you should stop your normal routine. Even a brisk walk is better than nothing!

During my family's Thanksgiving dinners I've noticed most people stuff the crap out of their plate, literally to the rim. And some even go back for seconds...and that's all before dessert!
Here's a little guideline to help keep you in check

Most of all, don't stress if you aren't perfect. Just listen to your body and enjoy your family time!

Just make sure you don't gobble til you wobble!
