Transformation Tuesday #2

Hi there everyone!
How was everyone's Easter?
I had a great time and just spent the day eating and sleeping.
My kind of holiday right there ha!

However, today is about the new series

In case you missed #1 here it is

My diet has been a little chaotic. I tried really hard to keep my diet clean throughout the week, but things just really fell apart. I've been studying so much for my NASM exam that I just haven't had time to cook. It's been a lot of pizza..a lot. Which doesn't exactly work out when you're trying to gain weight. I've felt awful the last few days eating crap food.
Eating more than I usually do to increase my calorie count as been hard. Before starting this transformation I would eat until my body said stop. However, now that I'm trying to eat more calories I have to eat past where my body says stop and there have been a few times that I've gagged trying to eat more food. Eating has become a chore, one I really don't like doing anymore.
I really need to increase my protein intake cause you can't build muscle without protein. Being a vegetarian and not eating enough has really made getting adequate amounts of protein trickier than normal. Instead of me trying to shove even more food into my stomach, Michael and I agreed that I should drink a protein shake everyday. It'll increase my protein amounts and my calorie count.

My exercise has also fallen to the wayside. Again, I've been super busy with NASM studying and trying to breathe that I haven't really made it to the gym. My exercise plan now is to lift heavy, and I mean heavy, 3 days a week, mostly focusing on my upper body. I'm trying to limit my cardio to shorter, less intense sessions, but it's difficult to do that when I teach Zumba twice a week and I take Zumba on my own.

So, because my exercise and diet haven't changed much, I don't feel my transformation photos are too different.
My knees still look pretty bony, but my upper body doesn't look quite as skeletal as it did. My shoulder still has bone sticking up through it, but it looks "softer" than it did before.
Making progress!

Goals: Increase protein intake, eat meals slower to eat more, lift heavy 3 times this week

Transformation Tuesday #1

Hi hi everyone!
Hope you're all having an amazing week so far.

I've wanted to do some sort of transformation kind of post about how my body came back from my eating disorder I had a couple years ago. But the truth is, it hasn't. I'm still struggling with gaining weight and muscle.
That's when I got the idea to make a series about how my body is changing week to week with updates on how my nutrition is and what my exercise has been like.
And that's where
Came to be.

Every week I figure I'll post an update picture or two to see how my progress is going.
It's not the typical body transformation you see, but I really want to get the struggle from the other side as well. Of course I welcome everyone to join in no matter what your journey is!

So this is my baseline picture:
I try to not nitpick at my body and have fallen into the habit of complimenting myself whenever I catch myself saying something bad.
However, here I can honestly say, my legs are way skinner than they used to be, my knees are practically poking out of my body. My arms are way way way too skinny. I've always have small arms, but my bones are poking out of everywhere. It's hard to see in the 2nd picture because of the lighting, but my clavicle is sticking out like crazy out of the top of my shoulder and you can see my breastbone and ribs in my chest.
It's not only uncomfortable to look at, but it's uncomfortable to feel. I don't like touching my knees because all I touch is bone.

My goal now: Gain muscle and "meat" on my body.
I'm not worrying about the scale, only to make sure I don't lose anymore weight. But I'm interested in how I feel and how I look.

I'll be back next week with another update on how things are going!

M.I.A

Hey everyone!!
It's been crazy busy here and I'll be M.I.A. for awhile!
I've got my NASM test this month (gulp), I start teaching Zumba at my job, and I have to finish the last of this semester if it kills me.
It's been a hard one around here.
Just imagine me running around like Jack Sparrow (Captain Jack Sparrow) trying to do a million different things at once

 Enjoy

Anywho, I know I haven't written anything of use lately on this blog, but I want to thank you for those that are hanging in there. I'll be back once I get a moment to breathe!

WIAW: The Happiest Place on Earth

Happy Wednesday everyone!!
I'm completely thrown off this week because I took a 4 day weekend and went down to spend time with my best friend in SoCal.
We, of course, went to Disneyland. I'll be writing up a few posts about my spring break weekend with her, but for now, let's talk about my yummy eats from Disneyland
www.peasandcrayons.com
Michael and I stayed over at my bestie's house and while we were waiting for her, I raided her cupboards and ate this yummy bar to tide me over before breakfast

Unfortunately I was so busy making breakfast and wolfing it down, I forgot to take a picture of the yummy breakfast Michael and I made for her!
Breakfast:
Scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, cara cara orange & banana

We got a delicious lunch when we got to Disneyland
Lunch:
Lobster roll (never had one!) & Old Bay spiced potato chips

Sweets:
I love sweets and Disneyland makes bomb sweets, so of course, I tried to limit my consumption
Michael's mom got me hooked on these, they're yummy
Molly (my bestie) and I discovered a shop where you can make your own ice cream bar! We picked our ice cream flavor, milk or dark chocolate, and what sprinkles.
I chose vanilla bean with dark chocolate & Mickey sprinkles
We had to stop by Ghiradelli to get a free sample

I tried to make the smartest choice I could for dinner
Dinner:
Cheese ravioli with pesto & balsamic sacue w/ pine nuts and a side salad

More Snacks:
Had to get a Starbucks to keep awake until the park closed! I love how they write your name (even though they spelled mine wrong)
White chocolate mocha with raspberry
I've never had a Dole Pineapple Whip and I had to try one
It's definitely tradition to eat the popcorn there

Mmmm just looking over those eats makes me wish I could be back there eating all it again!
But I know I've been super lazy about food and it's time to crack down on my eating and overhaul my diet. Time for more veggies & clean eating!

Have a good week everyone and I'll be back with part one of my spring break story!!
